This week, RAINS had the pleasure of hosting representatives from a partner, Gower Street, alongside with other civil society organizations (CSOs) for a roundtable discussion on Climate-Smart Agriculture. The meeting focused on strategies currently in use and new approaches to enhance agricultural sustainability.
As part of the partner visit, they toured Tindang, a community in the Savelugu Municipal, where they engaged directly with beneficiaries of Gower Street’s agricultural policies and training programs. The discussions provided firsthand insights into indigenous foods, their nutritional and ecological benefits, and traditional seed preservation methods that help prevent extinction of the indigenous seed varieties. The community also shared how their farming practices align with climate-smart agriculture principles, ensuring resilience and sustainability in food production.
Additionally, they visited Kuldanali Primary School, where the team interacted with teachers and students about the role of school gardens in enhancing teaching and learning. These gardens serve as practical learning tools, helping students understand agriculture, nutrition, and environmental conservation. The team also observed a previous tree-planting exercise, which not only beautifies the school but also promotes afforestation and creates a more conducive learning environment.
RAINS remain committed to promoting sustainable agricultural practices that empower communities and safeguard food security for future generations. ๐พ✨
